Hoot harp and flute duo brings together Helen MacLeod and Emma Wilkins, the previous recipients of the 2008-2010 Enterprise Music Scotland Residency Project, an in-depth development programme for emerging Scottish-based chamber groups.

Hoot have recently completed their final Scottish Residency Tour, having delighted audiences across the country with their eclectic mix of music.

In November 2010 they premiered their new commission Fantasie, Danse, Ceremonie by Helen Grime, one of Scotland's finest composers, at the Sound Festival in Aberdeen, bringing a new and exciting approach to the flute and harp repertoire.

In conjunction with the EMS residency project, Hoot released their first album The Garden of Adonis at the 2010 Edinburgh International Harp Festival, to great critical acclaim.

Recent successes include a prestigious Tunnell Trust for Young Musicians Award leading to Hoot's second Scottish tour, most notably performing in Orkney's St Magnus Cathedral.

Education and music therapy play a very important role to Hoot and since November 2007, Emma and Helen have been part of the Live Music Now scheme, a project set up by Yehudi Menuhin to bring the joy and inspiration of live music to those who have limited access.

As versatile musicians, individually they have performed with groups ranging from all of Scotland's professional orchestras to Belle and Sebastian and Texas.

The combination of their dynamic repertoire and their passion and flair, guarantee audiences a truly thrilling and inspiring performance.

Composer Eddie McGuire was absolutely correct when he speculated Hoot would suit the reverberant acoustic of Oran Mor, they did rather more than that... they created an intimate salon feel, rather different from the usual rush hour concerts.

music centeral is a locally based group dedicated to bringing a variety of exciting musical performances to venues in and around Huntly.

The group's name is a tribute to the composer, Ronald Center, who lived and worked in Huntly from 1943-1973 and whose music continues to be performed and admired to this day.

music centeral aims to build on Huntly's historic relationship with music by inviting performers in a wide range of styles and genres to bring a little music to all our lives!
